INSPIRATION SERIES WITH FRED EVERYTHING

FRED EVERYTHING is one of the most talented and respected artists on the global house music scene. He has won several revered awards, been touted by and worked alongside scores of the biggest and most respected names from the scene, released on multitudes of the biggest labels and DJ’d across the world at more countries than most of us could ever dream of reaching for business or pleasure.

So it is an inspired move by the guys at KU DE TA to ask the Canadian native to play outside of his comfort zone and supply the soundtrack for their Sunset Session on Sunday the 1st September this coming weekend.

We asked FRED EVERYTHING to come up with an INSPIRATIONS SELECTION for us and he decided to use his sunset slots this coming weekend as the theme picking 5 tracks that he feels are perfect for a sundown set and it’s a wonderful selection which you can now enjoy here along with a few words from the man himself as to why the tracks made the selection:

“Since I’m doing 2 Sunset sets at Ku De Ta this weekend, I thought it would be fitting to make my top 5 Inspirations around songs I like to play in my Sunset sets which are different from my normal club sets. Another way to express myself inspired by the environment rather than the dancefloor.”

Dexter Wansel – Life On Mars
A forward thinking Jazz Funk Classic from Philadelphia. It’s perfect to build up before the sunsets.

Coco Steel & Lovebomb – Disco Dub
Big fan of early Warp records. Coco Steel & Lovebomb did the best early 90’s house and ambient records that still sounds relevant today. Total Balearic vibe for me.

Beloved – Sun Rising (Global Communication Remix)
Stone cold Deep House classic from London band The Beloved, remixed by a master of the genre, Mark Pritchard from Global Communication. Another fine example of the Balearic sound.

Azymuth – Dear Limmertz
One of my favorite Jazz/Funk fusion band from Brazil. I love the rhodes and harmonies, mixed with a rhythmic vocoder and let’s not forget that slap bass!

Tom Szirtes – Barely Breathing
Solo project from one of my friend and collaborator Tom Szirtes aka Shur-I-Kan. I will most likely play this as the sun goes down as a reset before the second part of my set.
